The Long Half Day is a 12 hour continuous improvisation by a group of eight musicians. It is an exploration of long-form improvisation and communication taken to and extreme in order to allow freedom from the usual time constraints of 20 - 30 minute sets in a traditional gig. The experience of playing these gigs has been transformative to my practice, allowing me to approach my performance in a new way that opens up new possibilities in the way I approach music making.
The first event in Brighton was recorded and released in it's entirety on the Aural Detritus label. The second, which took place at i'klectik in London, was broadcast, again in its entirety, on Resonance Extra. There are more to come, so stay tuned!
