Curio is an exploratory musical instrument, currently at prototype stage, that I have been developing and testing at various public events over the last year including Uniqlo Tate Lates, Hackoustic Summer Festival 2016 and UCL Festival of Stuff. I am interested in exploring ways that instruments/installations can allow people an exploratory, playful and inviting experience of sound-making machines. Ways to explore the sophisticated nuances of sound, texture and timbre using a wide-open interface. My aim is to open up perceptions about the ways we interact with and experience sound beyond conventional music and musical instrument paradigms.
This link takes you to a video of a presentation I made about the instrument at the London Arduino hacking group. Unfortunately I can't embed the video here as it's privately hosted on vimeo so you'll have to follow the link and skip to 25:50 to see my presentation.
