Projects
GongBlades
Performance and spatialisation of large industrial circular saw blades (1.2m and 2m diameter), exploring timbre and spatial audio techniques to build an immersive performance. This is an opportuity to put the listeners in a place that’s not normally possible - with their ears right in the centre of the blade. The range of timbres and techiques that can be used with these found objects is remarkable, and provides a wide range of opportunities to experiment with performance and installation techniques.
Ball Balancer
An autonomous robotic sculpture that uses spatial audio through physical movement to explore the relationship between mechanical precision and acoustic phenomena, using a 3RRS parallel manipulator to control a steel ball on a wooden platform, with contact microphones translating physical movement into spatial sound.
